In a not so surprising move, Fox has revived Tim Allen sitcom Last Man Standing for a seventh season. This comes just a day after Fox handed the pink slip to its lineup of single camera sitcoms. The seventh season will begin this fall.
Rejoining Allen are Nancy Travis (Vanessa), Amanda Fuller (Kristin), Christoph Sanders (Kyle), Jordan Masterson (Ryan), and Jonathan Adams (Chuck). So far Molly Ephraim (Mandy), Kaitlyn Dever (Eve), and Hector Elizondo (Ed) have not signed on to return. Reports have stated that Elizondo is working on a deal that would bring him back if his new sitcom is not picked up.
Last Man Standing aired for six years on ABC from 2011 to 2017. The show was canceled due to mid-to-low ratings, while many speculated it was because of Allen’s conservative views. However, with the Roseanne revivals ratings skyrocketing, it seemed like a no-brainer that Fox would attempt to bring back the series. 20th Century Fox has produced the series since the beginning, so it made financial sense that Fox would be the one to pick it up.
