With summer drawing to a close, there isn’t a summer tentpole left to be released. With Kingsman: The Golden Circle to debut on September 22nd, the box office will be full of hold overs and minor releases. This weekend, The Hitman’s Bodyguard debuted to $21 million dollars. The action flick starring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson looks like it’ll recover the $30 million budget shortly.
Annabelle: Creation dropped to second place this weekend, bringing in another $15 million for a 2 week total of $64 million. Logan Lucky wasn’t so lucky, debuting at #3 with $7.6 million. Dunkirk dropped to 4th place with $6.6 million and a 5 week total of $165 million. Rounding out the top 5 is The Nut Job 2 with $5 million for a 2 week total of $17 million.
The only major releases debuting this coming weekend are animated feature Leap! and a wide release of Robert Pattinson’s film Good Time.
