2016 Emmy Snubs and Surprises

The 2016 Emmy Nominations were announced earlier today. Now that some time has passed, let’s take a look at some of the surprises and snubs this season. There were definitely more snubs than surprises.

  • Black-ish became the series to watch this season. After just one nomination last year, the series is looking at Best Comedy, Best Lead Actor (Anthony Anderson) and Best Lead Actress (Tracee Ellis Ross).
  • With a ratings struggling second season, it was good to see Will Forte still nominated for Lead Actor in Last Man on Earth.

  • Julianna Margulies and The Good Wife will take home no statues this year as the series was not nominated for anything during its final season.
  • Orange is the New Black also was shut out this season, with no Best Comedy or Best Drama nomination.
  • The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is the only 11:30PM late night show not nominated.
  • American Idol wasn’t nominated in their final season.
  • Neither Terrence Howard or Empire got nominated, although Taraji P. Henson did.
