Well, it looks like Rob Lowe is trading the courtroom for the ER. CBS has announced that the veteran actor has joined the cast of Code Black as a series regular for season two. Lowe will play Colonel Ethan Willis, a doctor in the U.S. Military’s prestigious Combat Casualty Care program who is brought in to help Dr. Leanne Rorish (Marcia Gay Harden) in the ER and teach them about combat medicine training, clashing with everyone else on the staff..
There had been talk that CBS was going to bring in a big name for the series, as they let go of Bonnie Somerville and Raza Jaffrey at the end of the first season. Code Black also stars Luis Guzman, Melanie Chandra, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Jillian Murray, Boris Kodjoe and William Allen Young.
It seems like CBS is taking a page out of NBC’s book, as their hospital set series The Night Shift focuses on many doctors and surgeons with combat medicine training.
The second season of Code Black debuts on September 28.
