Season two of “Supergirl” to feature Superman

After a season full of texts and shadowed shots of Superman, the Man of Steel will officially make an appearance in season two of Supergirl. Casting is underway for Superman to appear in the first two episodes of the second season, which could in turn lead to a recurring arc.

“Greg, Ali and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl,” said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, who co-created the series with fellow exec producers Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler. “We cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape.”

The producers of the series did not place Superman in the first season on purpose, so they could focus on telling Kara’s story. Now that her world has been fleshed out some (and with ratings down a bit), it makes sense for the series to introduce Kara’s famous cousin.

Supergirl returns this fall on a new network – the CW, on the same date and time, Mondays at 8 PM.

Who do you think should play Superman? Tom Welling? Someone new? Sound off below!
