A report from Deadline published on Saturday states that actor Ewan McGregor has been tabbed as the lead for the 3rd Season of FX’s Fargo, the Emmy winning, critically acclaimed limited series based on the 1996 film of the same name.
McGregor is reportedly set to play two main roles – brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy. The brothers will not be identical twins; in fact, Ray is the younger brother. According to the report, Emmit Stussy is described as a handsome, self-made real estate mongul known as the “Parking Lot King” of Minnesota. He is also a family man that sees himself as an American success story. His brother, Ray, is a parole officer and described as a balding and pot-bellied individual that peaked in high school. Ray apparently has beef with his brother, and blames him for his misfortunes.
Fargo’s third season will take place in 2010. The first season took place between 2006-2007 while the second season took place in 1979.
Created by Noah Hawley, Fargo is based on and takes place in the same “universe” the 1996 Academy Award winning film by Joel and Ethan Coen. The first season made its debut in April 2014.
