CBS has announced the renewal for the second seasons of Code Black and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, a third for The Odd Couple, and an eighth for Undercover Boss.
The renewal for The Odd Couple comes as a surprise to most as the series was renewed last year only to be burned off this spring. However, ratings have been higher than expected, and will give CBS a strong bench player next year (think Rules of Engagement).
Both Code Black and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders were average performing dramas for the network, and with the network as a whole doing worse than usual, it doesn’t come as a surprise that both will be back.
Undercover Boss continues to be a solid bench reality series for the network, and is relatively cheap to produce.
Not announced was Limitless, which is being shopped to other networks since CBS does not want to bring it back. Also not mentioned is Rush Hour, which pretty much debuted DOA.
