It appears that NBC has too many hens in the basket. The network announced today that Grimm’s season six order has been to reduced to 13, with an option for more if ratings warrant. This would be the first time the series hasn’t been renewed for a full season.
This is mainly due to NBC renewing a lot of their dramas with not enough timeslots. While shows like Heroes: Reborn won’t be back, new series like Chicago Med will be. Also, Grimm is getting more costly, as the series features heavy SFX and is an aging series.
Grimm has always been the underdog, debuting on the weak Friday night, but has always received strong ratings and continues to be one of the night’s best performers.
