It was announced today from The Hollywood Reporter that Robert Downey, Jr. will appear in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming. It appears the bond that Tony Stark (Downey, Jr.) and Peter Parker (Tom Holland) have in the soon to be released Captain America: Civil War will have a lasting impact.
Also appearing in Homecoming is Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Zendaya as one of the female leads. Production begins in June for a 2017 release date.
This is big news as Sony wanted to keep Spider-Man close to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and fans of the comics know that Iron Man and Spider-Man have a tight bond. There is no word if this is the only Spidey flick that Downey, Jr. will be a part of, but if the movie performs well in the box office, negotiations will probably happen.
