LucasFilm & Disney have released the first teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
If you are unable to wait for Star Wars Episode VIII to come out in December 2017, we’ve got a feeling that this is going to hold you over for another year.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (originally titled Star Wars: Rogue One) will be the first live action Star Wars film that is a stand-alone movie. The movie is set shortly before the events of A New Hope and centers on a group of Rebel Spies on a mission to steal the plans for the first Death Star.
The movie stars Felicity Jones (The Tempest, The Amazing Spider-Man 2) as Jyn Erso, a soldier for the Rebel Alliance assigned to steal the plans from the Galactic Empire. The cast will also include Diego Luna (Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, Milk), Riz Ahmed (Nightcrawler), Ben Mendelsohn (Animal Kingdom, The Dark Knight Rises), Donnie Yen (IP Man), Jiang Wen (In the Heat of the Sun), Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland, The Shield), Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale), Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Serenity), and Jonathan Aris (Sherlock). Genevieve O’Reilly will reprise her role as a young Mon Mothma, a role she played in 2005’s Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (deleted scenes).
Rogue One will release on December 16, 2016 and is based on characters created by George Lucas, written by Gary Whitta (The Book of Eli, After Earth) and Chris Weitz (American Pie, About a Boy), and directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla).
The film’s soundtrack will be composed by Alexandre Desplat (The Twilight Saga, Godzilla, Argo). It will be the first Star Wars film not to feature John Williams.
