Garry Shandling, the man behind The Larry Sanders Show (56 Emmy nominations) and It’s Garry Shandling’s Show has passed away today at the age of 66, sources confirm. He has most recently appeared in Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014.
Shandling has had 19 Emmy Award nominations throughout his career, and has stayed out of the limelight by and large over the past decade, except for his role in the Captain America film and playing the same character in Iron Man 2.
Throughout the 80’s, Shandling was a guest host for Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show through 1987 and had writing credits for sitcoms like Sandford and Son and Welcome Back, Kotter.
