It was only a matter of time before NBC ordered another series in the Chicago franchise. It has been announced that the network will create a legal spinoff to the franchise, with the working title of Chicago Law.
“The Chicago universe will continue to grow as we are in active development on Chicago Law (working title),” NBC entertainment president Jennifer Salke said in a statement Thursday.
Currently NBC has the original series Chicago Fire in its fourth season (and renewed for a fifth), Chicago P.D. in its third (and renewed for a fourth), and the newest entry Chicago Med in its first season. Law seemed the logical next step, especially with different attorneys and courtroom scenes being heavily featured in a recent Chicago P.D. episode.
With the series just hitting the development phase, the series probably won’t debut until late fall of this year or early 2017.
