DiNozzo no more. Michael Weatherly announced today on his Twitter that he’ll be retiring his character of Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo after the current 13th season of NCIS. Weatherly has been producing a lot more, and it seems that with Mark Harmon’s Gibbs still at the helm of the series, that there is no more growth possible for DiNozzo’s character.
Weatherly, Harmon, Pauley Perrette, and David McCallum are the sole originals of the series that started back as a backdoor pilot of the CBS drama JAG. Perrette, McCallum, Sean Murray and Rocky Carroll all have their contracts this year, which means there might be a few more exits on the NCIS series.
DiNozzo is a wonderful, quixotic character & I couldn’t have had more fun playing him over the past 13 seasons pic.twitter.com/GR7YSsmsKJ
