CBS is giving its newest medical drama another chance at life. The Tiffany Network today announced that it is giving drama Code Black an additional five episodes to bring its first season total to 18. While its a bit shy of a traditional 22-episode season, it gives a little bit of faith for the drama.
While the series didn’t debut to the numbers that recent NBC medical drama Chicago Med did this week, Code Black still averages around a 1.5 in the 18-49 demographic and around 7 million viewers weekly, with a slight bump on DVR viewing.
The series is based on the documentary by Ryan McGarry. Code Black takes place in the busiest, most notorious ER in the nation. Marcia Gay Harden, Bonnie Somerville, Melanie Kannokada, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Harry M. Ford, Luis Guzman, Reza Jaffrey and William Allen Young star.
