NBC orders additional episode for “Blindspot”, “Chicago Fire”, “Chicago PD”, and “SVU”

It was a good day to be an NBC drama. The Peacock network handed out an additional episode to rookie success Blindspot, and Dick Wolf dramas Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. This brings each show to 23 episodes this season.

NBC has had its issues this season with new shows like The Player and Truth Be Told performing under expectations, with no shows other than The Voice and Blindspot hitting above a 2.0 in the 18-49 demographic consistently.

Shows like The Blacklist (in its third season) and the re-launch of Heroes: Reborn have also performed slightly under expectations. NBC has never had too strong of a midseason, with their biggest gamble this year being Shades of Blue starring Jennifer Lopez.

Law & Order: SVU is currently in its 17th season, with Chicago Fire in its fourth, and Chicago P.D. in its third.
