After the building hype surrounding the production of the Deadpool movie, 20th Century Fox has released two trailers for the upcoming superhero film (one Theatrical, one Red Band).
Deadpool is based upon the most unconventional anti-hero of Marvel Comics. It tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds), who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
And for those wondering: yes, Deadpool will also share the same cinematic universe as the X-Men film series.
This is 20th Century Fox’s second attempt at the character of Deadpool. Reynolds previously played Wade Wilson in the 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Reynolds was praised for the part of Wilson, but the origin of Deadpool in the film was critically panned as being unfaithful to the source material.
Deadpool features the directorial debut of Tim Miller and also stars Morena Baccarin (Gotham, Firefly) as Vanessa, Ed Skrein (Game of Thrones, The Transporter: Refueled) as Ajax, T.J. Miller (Silicon Valley) as Weasel, Gina Carano (Haywire, Fast & Furious 6) as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Andre Tricoteux (Once Upon a Time), as Colossus, and Leslie Uggams (Roots) as Blind Al. Marvel Comics co-creator Stan Lee will also have a cameo.
Check out the Red Band Trailer for the film, which releases February 12, 2016.
