WoE Notes 5/26: “Texas Rising” debuts solid, Max Greenfield to “AHS” and more

  • History Channels new miniseries Texas Rising debuted to 4.1 million viewers and a 1.1 in the 25-54 demo last night. While it is the biggest miniseries this year, it falls short of History’s Hatfields & McCoys 13.9 million and a 5.8 in the 25-54. Texas Rising stars Hatfields & McCoys Bill Paxton.
  • New Girl star Max Greenfield has signed on for the upcoming season of American Horror Story, as announced by creator Ryan Murphy on his Twitter feed. American Horror Story: Hotel will debut this fall on FX.

  • Snapchat has hired former Fox SVP comedy Marcus Wiley as Head of Program Planning and Development. Expect to see short form narrative series and music features soon on the popular app.
  • This Memorial Day Weekend box office was one of the lowest in recent memory.  Total numbers for the four-day Memorial Day frame was off 16% from a year ago with $194.4 million. Tomorrowland debuted below expectations.
