While Ted Danson might be heading from the original CSI to Cyber, it appears that CSI: Cyber is about to lose one of its stars.
It was announced during CBS’s Upfront Presentation today that star Peter MacNicol would not be rejoining the cast of CSI: Cyber this fall when it returns for its second season. It has been confirmed that Danson’s arrival was not a factor in MacNicol’s leaving, but it was merely creative.
CSI: Cyber, the fourth in the CSI brand, debuted to decent ratings this winter, helped by star Patricia Arquette’s Oscar win for Boyhood. However, reviews were average at best and ratings started to decline as the weeks went on. CBS knew it couldn’t have both the aging CSI and CSI: Cyber on schedule this fall, so bringing in Danson to rework the series was its best option.
