After Arrested Development fans were treated to a Netflix revival of 15 new episodes, seven years after the series was cancelled, speculation arose on whether or not the series would return for a fifth season.
As it turns out, fans are likely to get their wish.
In an interview with Grantland’s Bill Simmons, Imagine Entertainment co-founder and Arrested Development producer Brian Grazer stated that the series would return for an additional 17 episodes. Although Netflix hasn’t confirmed a return of the popular sitcom, Grazer sounded pretty confident. “People are loyal to it,” he said, “and we’re going to do another 17 episodes. So stay tuned for Arrested Development.”
Grazer provided no other information regarding Arrested Development, choosing instead to talk about his successful new show Empire, currently airing on FOX.
The news of a new season shouldn’t come as a surprise to most fans. In September of 2013, Ted Sarandos (Netflix’s chief content officer) stated that there was “no question” that the series would return. Even series creator Mitchell Hurwitz mentioned that the saga of the Bluth family was far from over and that it would continue as either a fifth season or a feature film.
Are you excited that Arrested Development is returning?
