Move over Joss Whedon, there are new directors for the next Avengers installments. It has been confirmed that Joe & Anthony Russo, directors of Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be directing The Avengers: Infinity War Parts I and II and that both films will be filmed simultaneously. Infinity War Part 1 is scheduled to be released on May 4, 2018, while part two debuts on May 3, 2019.
Whedon has received critical acclaim with the first The Avengers movie, with the second one hitting theaters on May 1st. Whedon has already said in recent interviews that it was “very doubtful” that he would return for the third and fourth movies in the franchise anyways, stating it’s been “a good five years since I created anything that was completely my own.”
The Russo Brothers, meanwhile, are currently at work directing Captain America: Civil War, which will include Spider-Man.
Are you guys excited for the new Avengers helmers? Or will you miss Whedon’s style of filmmaking. Sound off below!
