The castings continue for CBS’s Supergirl series, and the latest castings are two individuals familiar with the Superman universe.
Deadline is reporting that actors Dean Cain and Helen Slater have been cast in “mystery roles.” The castings are headline worthy as Cain played Superman/Clark Kent in ABC’s Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman from 1993-1997 and Slater played Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in the ill fated 1984 Supergirl feature film. Both actors also had guest appearances during the seventh season of Smallville.
Cain and Slater become the latest in a flurry of castings for the upcoming show. Melissa Benoist (Glee) was cast back on January 22nd for the role of Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, followed by Mechad Brooks (Necessary Roughness) as Jimmy Olsen, Chyler Leigh (Grey’s Anatomy) as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers (Kara’s foster sister), David Harewood (Homeland) as Hank Henshaw, Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal, Brothers & Sisters) as Cat Grant. and Laura Benati (The Playboy Club, Law & Order: SVU) as Kara’s mother, Alura Zor-El, in a reoccurring role.
