Marvel releases official “Avengers: Age of Ultron” poster

Marvel released the first official poster for Avengers: Age of Ultron. The poster features core Avengers Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Nick Fury and Hawkeye, as well as new additions Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch tucked in the far right. Also featured is Vision, an android created by Ultron, floating above Hulk’s head and obstructed by the light from the sun.

Websites such as IGN have reported readers have noticed additional names in the cast credits at the bottom of the poster, such as the inclusion of Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Hayley Atwell (Agent Peggy Carter), Idris Elba (Heimdall). Also featured in the cast credits is composer Danny Elfman, credited as providing additional music to Brian Tyler’s score. Elfman contributed to the scores for Hulk (2003) and the first two Tobey Maguire Spider-Man films. Seem to be a funny coincidence since Spider-Man has recently been added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Avengers Age of Ultron poster

Initial thoughts: Well, there’s a LOT going on in this, and is quite possibly the largest number of superheroes in a poster for a live action adaption. While it looks cool, I can’t help but feel like they put too much into the poster. The placement of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in the upper right corner looks off to me based on their size and angle, as if the poster artist ran out of space and realized he needed to put them in somewhere. Also missing from the poster is Maria Hill, who supposedly was to play a key role in the movie.

What are your thoughts from the poster?

  1. I’d understand Ruffalo, based on the fact he’s been nominated for an Oscar. But between Hemsworth and Evans, Evans is the better actor.
