  1. My husband and kids have made me watch this trailer a dozen time in the past 24 hours. It is very much a trailer of the teaser variety, not giving much away at all. It is definitely designed to get the existing fans in a frenzy of anticipation rather than engaging anyone new. I think it was skilfully done to create intrigue.

As for looking forward to the movie… Well, my husband and I are massive fans of the original triology who felt almost insulted by the prequels. That has left us feeling somewhat jaded. I have low expectations of these new films but hope to be proven wrong. My husband and kids, however, are all whipped up with excitement over the new films. The optimists’ willful triumph of hope over experience.

  2. I don’t hate the Prequels, but I don’t find them outstanding like the original trilogy. However, I love Star Wars in general and have gone as far as to buy the Expanded Universe novels and play numerous Star Wars games. For example, Shadows of The Empire and the Heir to the Empire trilogy were fantastic novels and the Knights of the Old Republic games are in my top 10 of best video games I’ve ever played.

If the trailer for Episode VII has anything going for it, it’s that it got me excited. I don’t recall feeling this excited for any of the teasers regarding the Prequels. I know there was buzz around the teaser for The Phantom Menace out of all the prequels, but I don’t remember feeling as excited about that as I do for The Force Awakens. Plus, Lawrence Kasdan (who contributed to The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi) is back for the new movie, so one would assume the script will be solid.
