“Iron Man 4” confirmed by Robert Downey Jr.

After rumors, speculation and teasing by Robert Downey Jr., the actor confirmed negotiations for a fourth Iron Man movie.

In a taped interview to air Thursday on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, RDJ was on to promote his upcoming film, The Judge, co-starring Robert Duvall. Ellen managed to get a straight answer that so many interviewers failed to get, asking him if there would be a fourth Iron Man. RDJ answered with:

“I know there’s going to be a bunch more Marvel movies and they have big ideas of how to do it best and we’re in the middle of negotiation… blahblahblah.”

This prompted to quickly strike by asking him “So, yes?”

This led RDJ to reply, “Okay, yes!”

RDJ was interviewed by users on Reddit on Tuesday and said the following cryptic details surrounding Iron Man 4:

“Sooner than later the Marvel Roster will be made public and all questions will be answered.”

A month ago, RDJ denied plans for Iron Man 4Last week, in an interview with Deadline promoting The Judge, Downey continued to deny any interest in a sequel, joking how he’d only do the film if Mel Gibson was signed on to direct.

Many are speculating the release date of the film, with various websites believing that it’ll come out after Avengers 3. Whenever Marvel decides to let the public know in an official announcement, we’ll have an idea of what the fourth film could be about. Rumors are the 4th film could revolve around The Mandarin. Iron Man 3 already featured the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), but it turned out only to be a fictional character invented by the scientist Aldrich Killian (Guy Pierce). However it is implied in the Marvel One-Shot All Hail the King, featured on the Blu-ray of Thor: The Dark World, that the real Mandarin exists. If you haven’t seen the short film, we’ve provided it for you:
