It has been reported that Oscar and Golden Globe winning actor Robin Williams been found dead in his home over an apparent drug overdose. He was 63. He was last seen on CBS’s The Crazy Ones that was canceled after its first and only season. His reps have released the following, “Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”
His wife, Susan Schneider has also released the following, “This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”
Williams rose to fame starring in Mork & Mindy for four seasons on ABC and broke into films in roles like Good Morning, Vietnam, Hook, Patch Adams, Aladdin, Mrs. Doubtfire and countless others. He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in Good Will Hunting and had been one of the few comedic actors to also work well in dramas including Awakenings and Dead Poets Society.
