July 23rd marked Batman’s 75th anniversary of his debut in Detective Comics #27 as well as San Diego Comic Con’s annual preview of the convention floor.
Both came together Wednesday night as DC Comics displayed the various movie costumes of the Batsuit for Batman 75. All the suits you could think of, from the Michael Keaton design used in Tim Burton’s Batman to Joel Schumacher’s Batsuit used by Val Kilmer (complete with nipples) in Batman Forever to Christian Bale’s costume from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, the display shows how much the design of the costume has changed over the past 25 years.
Included among all the Batsuits was the new cowl and cape design for Ben Affleck in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
For the first time since the teaser image released by director Zack Snyder, we get a closer look at the design of the cowl and the fabric of the cape. There’s only one downside– it’s just the cape and cowl. No suit.
While its awesome to see the cowl and cape for Batman 75, fans want to see the full suit, complete with the Batman logo and the utility belt. There’s been speculation about the colors of the suit, especially since actor/director Kevin Smith has stated in a Smodcast that the suit is gray, not black.
How do you like the cape and cowl design? Do you think we’ll see more of the suit as Comic Con goes on?
