BBC teases Series 8 of “Doctor Who”

The last time we saw The Doctor was the 2013 Christmas Special, “The Time of the Doctor.” Viewers were left with a cliffhanger just after the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) regenerated into his Twelfth incarnation (Peter Capaldi). In case you don’t remember, here’s the final minute of that episode.

We first got a short tease of the Twelfth Doctor in the 50th Anniversary special, “The Day of the Doctor,” where the audience got to see a few seconds of the Twelfth Doctor’s eyes. A month later, fans got to see 20 seconds of Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor before the episode ended with and left fans curious about what kind of personality this new Doctor will have.

In the past few days, BBC and BBC America have aired teaser trailers promoting the Season 8 premiere of Doctor Who to air on Saturday, August 23rd. The first trailer, approximately 15 seconds, features the Twelfth Doctor asking his companion, Clara (Jenna Coleman) if he’s “a good man.”

If that didn’t get the Whovians (the Doctor Who fanbase) excited, the BBC tweeted a photo teasing the return of the Cybermen for the upcoming season.

And if that didn’t get fans buzzing about the new season, BBC America aired this trailer on the Forth of July.

If you don’t recall (or know), the voice in the trailer is that of Davros, a major villain of the Doctor and the creator of the Daleks. Davros was last seen in the 2008 episode “Journey’s End,” back when David Tennant was playing the Tenth Doctor. Does this mean that Davros cheated death…again?

Are you excited for the new season of Doctor Who and the first full episode of Capaldi’s Doctor? Feel free to express your thoughts.
