NBC renews “The Night Shift” for second season

In a not so surprising move, NBC has renewed frosh drama The Night Shift for a second season. Per The Futon Critic, the series has been renewed for a 14-episode season, which makes it seem to believe that part of the season might be during the normal broadcast season.

The hospital drama was originally a summer burn-off, but after premiering to strong ratings behind America’s Got Talent, the show has held steady in the ratings and been rumored to be renewed for the past few weeks. Even with Got Talent in reruns, the show was able to maintain most of their ratings.

The Night Shift follows a group at San Antonio Hospital during the night shift. Series stars Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Freddy Rodriguez, and others.
