Marvel announced today that Rosario Dawson (Kids, Sin City, Death Proof, Men in Black II) will join the Netflix series Daredevil.
According to the press release on the Marvel website, Dawson will appear on a re-occurring role in the 13-episode series and not a main cast member. Marvel wouldn’t say who she will portray, but they described her character as “a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this [New York] broken city.”
Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel’s Television front, described Dawson as “one the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for ‘Marvel’s Daredevil.’ Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil.”
Dawson joins Charlie Cox (Daredevil/Matt Murdock) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/Kingpin) as the only announced cast members of the limited series.
