After starring on Rescue Me for 7 seasons, Denis Leary is making his return to FX with the pilot Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll. The series is a straight up comedy, a bit of a change from Rescue Me’s drama-comedy format.
FX released the following:
Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll will star Leary as Johnny Rock, the talented lead singer of the early ’90s New York-based band The Heathens. In their prime, they were critical darlings on the cusp of stardom, but Johnny’s appetite for sex and drugs led the band to break up on the day their only record was released. Now, 25 years later, Johnny is trying to get the band back together, fearing his own anonymity.
The series has received a pilot order, and if all things go according to plan, the series could be hitting the network as early as next year. Leary also has his name on Sirens, a sitcom airing on USA Network in March. Leary can also be seen in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man 2.
