Review: Growing up, Burt never had friends. That was until he received a Rance Holloway (Alan Arkin) magic kit and befriended Anton (Steve Buscemi). After selling out a theatre at Bally’s in Vegas for over 20 years, audiences begin to disappear after the new type of magic done by Steve Gray becomes more popular.
Throughout the movie Burt breaks up his friendship with Anton, screws things up with his assistant Jane (Olivia Wilde) and is reduced to performing magic at a retirement home. That is where he meets Rance Holloway and finds his love for magic again.
Burt has one shot at regaining former glory, vying for a headlining spot at Doug’s (James Gandolfini) Hotel and Casino (casino spill gratis). But first, he must make amends to those he has wronged in the past.
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone reunites Carell and Carrey who starred in Bruce Almighty years ago. And while the film was great showcasing the physical comedy talents of all the stars, the first half of the film felt more like a drama than a comedy.
While the film definitely had its faults, overall it was a very fun film to watch.
