Brief: Ari Graynor to lead “Bad Teacher” series and other casting news

For fans of the comedy film Bad Teacher, there is good news. CBS is in development on a sitcom version of the series. Ari Graynor (For A Good Time Call) has been tapped for the lead role that Cameron Diaz played with David Alan Grier stepping into the role of the principal.

In other casting news:

  • Catherine O’Hara has been tapped in a lead role for Fox’s upcoming comedy To My Future Assistant. The sitcom focuses on a group of young assistants in a law firm who band together to help cope with their horrible bosses (including one played by O’Hara).
  • Tate Donovan has been cast in the Toni Collette drama Hostages. The series follows Collette’s character, a skillful surgeon who is to operate on the President. Donovan has been cast as her husband.
