During the TCA panel today, Greg Daniels, the showrunner and executive producer of NBC’s The Office confirmed that Steve Carell would not return to the series for the finale like many hoped.
“(Carell) was very much of the opinion that the ‘Goodbye Michael’ episode and story arc leading up to it was the goodbye to the fans and the show,” Daniels said during the conference. He said that this final season, “is the goodbye that the rest of the show gets to have.”

- SyFy has canceled Alphas after two ratings challenged seasons. The series followed a group of individuals that had extraordinary abilities. In a release the network stated, “We’ve been proud to present this entertaining, high-quality series for two seasons and to work with an incredible ensemble of talented actors, producers and creatives as well as our partners at BermanBraun Television. We’d like to thank the show’s dedicated regular viewers for their tremendous support.”
- Conrad Bain, who portrayed Mr. Drummond on the hit sitcom Diff’rent Strokes passed away on Monday at the age of 89. Bain also appeared in the shows Maude and Dark Shadows.
- Even though she’s turning 91 this year, NBC is producing a second 90th birthday celebration for Betty White, calling it Betty White’s 2nd Annual 90th Birthday Special. The special will air on Tuesday, February 5th at 8PM.
