“The Killing” canceled after two seasons

After finally figuring out who killed Rosie Larsen, AMC has pulled the plug on their drama The Killing. While ratings cooled off quick after the first season premiere, the network gave the show a second season after the murder wasn’t solved at all during the first.

The bad news, however, was fans were upset and didn’t return when the second season debuted. Ratings were down a substantial amount during the second season. Since the season two finale fans have been hoping their critically acclaimed series would be back, but the cards were not on the table.

AMC released the following statement:

“After much deliberation, we’ve come to the difficult decision not to renew ‘The Killing’ for a third season.  AMC is incredibly proud of the show and is fortunate to have worked with such a talented team on this project, from showrunner Veena Sud and our terrific partners at Fox Television Studios to the talented, dedicated crew and exceptional cast.”

20th Fox who produces the show has stated they are shopping the series around to other networks.
