Legendary television producer and host Dick Clark passed away today at the age of 82 due to a heart attack. Clark had suffered a stroke back in 2004 that took away some of the charm of “America’s oldest teenager”, but he fought back and returned to Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin Eve for the past few years.

Clark is best known for hosting American Bandstand as well as the gameshow Pyramid. Dick Clark Productions was created in the late 1950s and created shows like TV’s Bloopers the American Music Awards among others.

Dick Clark was influential to many hosts today including Ryan Seacrest who shared co-hosting duties on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve for the past few years and is expected to go solo now after Clark’s passing.

Seacrest tweeted:

I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend Dick Clark. He has truly been one of the greatest influences in my life.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
