Multiple sources have OFFICIALLY confirmed the return of cult classic Arrested Development. Show creator Mitchell Hurwitz told media during the cast’s reunion in New York that he plans on doing a 9 or 10-episode season which each episode focusing on one character.
Jason Bateman tweeted “It’s true, We will do 10 episodes and the movie. Probably shoot them all together next summer for a release in early ’13. VERY excited!”
It has been speculated that Netflix and Showtime are interested in airing the new season. If you remember, however, Showtime originally declined to continue the series after FOX canceled the show after its third season back in 2006. All of the original stars will be back. The stars are Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Portia de Rossi, Michael Cera, Tony Hale, Jeffrey Tambor, David Cross, Alia Shawkat, Jessica Walter and Ron Howard as the unseen narrator.
