If the season finale of The Office couldn’t get any bigger, well, it did. Film star Jim Carrey has been added to the ever-growing list of guest stars that include Ricky Gervais, James Spader, Will Arnett, Ray Romano, and Catherine Tate. Details of Carrey’s role, as usual, are being kept under wraps, but it is assumed that he will be another candidate vying for the Regional Manager job that was held by Michael Scott, played by the talented Steve Carell.
With all these big names on board for the finale, it would be a letdown if the replacement for the Scranton Dunder Mifflin office is someone we already know. My bet is that it definitely wouldn’t be Romano or Carrey, but Spader or Gervais are still likely candidates. While Gervais would be the obvious choice in keeping David Brent a little longer, I really do believe Spader could bring something revitalizing to the show. The character he played on Boston Legal was very sarcastic and a real womanizer, something he could easily bring that would be new to The Office.
The one person we know that won’t be around for the finale is Will Ferrell. His character, Deangelo Vickers, will be around only for one episode after Carell leaves before he gets the boot. From his first appearance he seems to be a lot like Michael Scott, something that producers say they are trying to stay away from.
Who would you guys like to see be the permanent replacement on The Office?
