It was announced today that CMT will not renew Working Class, the network’s first scripted programming series. Starring Melissa Peterman and Ed Asner, the series revolved around Carli Mitchell (Peterman), a single mom who tries to provide the best for her children by working at a grocery store. Asner portrayed her cranky co-worker as well as neighbor.

The series debuted to decent ratings for CMT, but plummeted over weeks. Guest stars included Peterman’s Reba co-star Reba McEntire, John Schneider, and Kathy Kinney.
