Sidney Lumet was known as a legendary director who was at the helm of classic films such as 12 Angry Men, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, and Network. Reports say that Lumet passed away Saturday morning in his New York City home, due to lymphoma.
Throughout his career, Lumet received five Oscar nominations and seven Director’s Guild nominations, being awarded an honorary Oscar in 2005. His last film was Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, Albert Finney, and Marisa Tomei.
Talent such as Lumet are a rarity nowadays, he will be supremely missed.
