After months of speculation, former Smallville star Michael Rosenbaum will be returning to play Lex Luther on the series finale on May 13th. Reports yesterday have said that Rosenbaum turned down an offer to play Clark Kent’s nemesis, but it seems as though he had a change of heart.
In a statement to the entertainment website TVLine, Rosenbaum said, “I’m delighted to return for the series finale. I’m simply doing it for all of the fans out there who made Smallville the great success it is. I appreciate all of their passion, their relentlessness, and even their threats. Ha ha.”
Although Kristin Kreuk isn’t returning, it seems like the fans of the show will get some closure and at least one treat to look forward to. Both Kreuk and Rosenbaum left the show after the seventh season, with Kreuk returning for some episodes in season eight, but fans were pleading for Rosenbaum to make a return appearance. Their prayers have finally been answered.
Are you guys happy about Rosenbaum’s return to the show? Are you still sad that the show is ending after a decade on the air? Sound off!
