Media reports have stated that George Clooney has been tapped to star in an adaption of the true crime book The Monster of Florence. Fox 2000 has picked up the option to the film, after Tom Cruise’s company United Artists originally nabbed the option of Douglas Preston and Mario Spezi’s book back in 2008.
The Monster of Florence documents the following of 16 murders taking place from the 1960’s to the 1980’s in Florence, Italy and how the perpetrator never was caught.
Since United Artists and MGM have stalled with their restructuring, the film seemed to be one lost in limbo. Now that Fox 2000 has the rights, this is extremely good news since most of Clooney’s films are highly praised by critics and fans alike, as well as the book being critically acclaimed as well.
