Reports have confirmed today that Jon Favreau will not return to direct Iron Man 3. Both of the first two films were directed by Favreau and have been box office successes in the United States and overseas. However, with his work on Cowboys & Aliens and other projects he has more desire to do, Favreau has decided to leave behind the superhero, however he has stated he’ll continue to Executive Produce The Avengers.

Marvel has stated that this is good for the franchise as well, as the company”sees it as an opportunity to bring some more fire to the franchise”. There are only a few names on the short list for possible directors, so keep a look out here to see all of the updates on Iron Man 3.
