With new midseason shows starting to premiere within the next two months, I will start cranking out some new pilot predictions for some of these series. Tonight I start with the new legal drama from mastermind David E. Kelley, who has created three of my favorite shows: The Practice, Ally McBeal, and most of all Boston Legal.
Show: Harry’s Law (Legal Drama)
Network and Timeslot: NBC, Mondays at 10:00 PM
About the Show: Harriet Korn (Kathy Bates) is a patent lawyer who has recently lost her job, but instead of giving up, she gathers some associates and starts her own law firm within an abandoned shoe store. Her associates include Adam Branch (Nate Corddry), Malcolm Davies (Aml Ameen), and Harriet’s assistant Jenna (Brittany Snow).
Prediction: Series creator David E. Kelley has more hits than misses in terms of long-lasting series, and with Kathy Bates as the lead star, I don’t see this series failing too badly. There are only two problems that I see: 1) the show is on NBC, and we know how bad that is for any show and 2) as stated earlier in the season, there are an abundance of legal shows. However, ABC’s The Whole Truth has been canned, which might give Harry’s Law a fighting chance.
