Not that it comes to a surprise to anyone, but Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part One opened to an amazing $24 million during the film’s midnight premiere. That breaks the $22 million that Half-Blood Prince opened with in July of 2009. Estimates are taking place that Hallows could reach over $135 million for the weekend in total. That would be very impressive for the franchise, as the biggest weekend grosser for the series was Goblet of Fire that brought in $102.7 million way back in 2005.
On a final note, the only film to beat Deathly Hallows for a midnight release belongs to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse that opened to $30 million during the midnight premiere.
Stay tuned here to find out how much Deathly Hallows makes in total for day one as well as opening weekend.
