Well…let’s just say ABC should be happy with its comedies. And we’ll address the debut of its one drama in a bit. NBC can’t be happy with their new spy drama either. It was an odd night for Wednesday.
- Modern Family and The Middle each debuted strong, with the former getting a 5.0 in the 18-49 and 12.61 million viewers, with the latter gaining over 8.8 million viewers and a 2.6 in the 18-49. Cougar Town did decent with a 3.3 and 8.3 million viewers. Better With You wasn’t too strong with 7.9 million viewers and a 2.5.
- NBC had a bad night with the J.J. Abrams series Undercovers, scoring only a 2.0 and 8.5 million viewers, well below what Mercy debuted with last year. However, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit was up compared to last year with 9.6 million and a 2.9 in the first hour, and 10.3 million and a 3.5 in the second hour.
- The Defenders easily beat ABC’s The Whole Truth with 12.0 million viewers and a 2.9 (that is lower than CSI: NY last year, however) compared to a horrid 1.5 and 4.9 million viewers.
- CBS should be glad that Survivor still commands Wednesday as it did on Thursdays with over 12.4 million viewers and a 4.0 in the 18-49. Criminal Minds also debuted strong with a 4.0 and 14 million viewers.
- Finally, the premiere for FOX’s Hell’s Kitchen did good with a 2.6 and 5.9 million viewers in the first hour, with a 3.3 and 7.1 million viewers in the second hour.
