TV Winners & Losers (9/21)

Tuesday posed a big ratings hit for the return of NCIS and Glee. However, for NCIS: LA and the premiere of Running Wilde, success didn’t come as expected.

  • Viewer wise, NCIS was steady with around 18.9 million viewers, but down nearly 20% in the 18-49 demo. The same can’t be said for the 2-hour premiere of NCIS: Los Angeles that had only 14.7 million viewers and down 27% in the 18-49.
  • FOX premiered Glee had nearly 12.3 million viewers and a 5.5 in the 18-49, up nearly 50% from last year. The comedies that followed, however, had varied successes. Raising Hope had around 7.5 million viewers and a 3.1. Running Wilde didn’t have as much success with 5.8 million viewers and a 2.5
  • Parenthood was down from its premiere last week with only 5.8 million viewers and a 2.4. This doesn’t look too great for the series as it had ratings troubles during its initial 13-episode run in spring.
  • ABC can’t be happy after Detroit 1-8-7 premiered to 9.75 million viewers and a 2.4 in the 18-49. The 2.4 is a bit down from the forgotten last year, and since nobody remembers that show a few months later, the same is probably true for 1-8-7.
  • Finally, The Biggest Loser might finally be the biggest loser. Down 25% from last year, the show averaged around 6.5 million viewers in the first hour with 7.7 in the second (with 2.6 and 3.3 in each hour)
