Network and Timeslot: CBS, Thursdays at 8:30
About the Show: Legendary actor William Shatner (Star Trek, Boston Legal) stars in $h*! My Dad Says (pronounced ‘Bleep My Dad Says’), a new sitcom on CBS based off the Twitter feed of Justin Halpern. Shatner plays Ed, a 72-year-old who is very opinionated and usually rants about things when they aren’t wanted. One of his sons, Henry (Jonathon Sadowski), a poor and struggling blogger/author, is forced to move back in with Ed against his wishes.
Prediction: This show is probably the most talked about for the fall, especially because of the word $h*! in the title. The Parents Television Council has been adamant in getting the show canceled with no avail, however, it has at least doubled the curiosity behind the show. Featured cast include Will Sasso (MADtv) as Ed’s other son as well as starring another MADtv alum, Nicole Sullivan. From the promos that the show has released, the show seems relatively funny. The only thing I’m worried about is how the Twitter function will be used. From reports it seems as though the Henry character begins the show tweeting something about one of Ed’s rants and then plays out the event tweeted. I believe with Shatner’s recent star power (from the Priceline commercials, the Star Trek and Boston Legal fan base), the show will last at least one full season, if not more.
