“Dinner for Schmucks” can’t knock out “Inception”

For the third consecutive week, Inception stays on top. Bringing in $27.5 million, the film made more overall than new comedy Dinner for Schmucks ($23.3), however, Schmucks made more per theater ($8,004 per theater compared to $7,763) than Inception.

Salt continues to hold steady, but still not able to jump ahead of anyone. The film places third with $19.2 million, followed by another Steve Carell film, Despicable Me, drawing in $15.3 million. The new Cats & Dogs film placed fifth, bringing in a total of $12.5 million. Zac Efron’s new film, Charlie St. Cloud was right behind it with $12.1 million.
