Recent news reports that Sam Worthington (Avatar, Clash of the Titans) has been replaced in McG’s new film, This Means War. The actor will be replaced by Tom Hardy and will star opposite Chris Pine (Star Trek) and Reese Witherspoon.
Personally, I think this is a nice surprise. While Hardy doesn’t have much to his name other than a terrific performance in Bronson and a notable role in Christopher Nolan’s Inception, he has already proved to be a better actor than Sam Worthington (who has yet to choose a film where he actually gets to act). I am sure that by the time Tom Hardy shows up as Mad Max in the new film, people will be more familiar with him.
This Means War follows two best friends, both of whom are spies, who fall in love with the same woman and end up going to war with each other.
The film sounds like it could be fun, with McG being a producer on NBC’s Chuck, he is pretty familiar with spy-action. With actors like Hardy and Chris Pine, this should be a fun watch to see the two go after each other.
