Recent reports have surfaced about a new Judge Dredd film in the making, based on the original 2000 AD comic books. While the series was made into a film back in 1995, starring Sylvester Stallone, they are now looking to do a remake of the project.
In an interview with MTV, Karl Urban (Star Trek, Bourne Supremacy), confirmed that he is in talks for the role. "
I can’t say too much at this point but it’s lookin’ good. [He is a] phenomenal iconic comic book character, so it’s a world I know and it would be a privilege and a pleasure to be able to bring that to life.”
Judge Dredd is set in a futuristic world filled with violence, and the character is empowered to act as judge, jury, and executioner. The film will be directed by Pete Travis, of Vantage Point, from the script written by Alex Garland (28 Days Later).
